How to Save Money - LED Lighting

I bet if you look round most homes you will find bog standard (in our case the cheapest) light bulbs you can find. When I moved out when I was a teenager I never had an idea beforehand. Light bulbs where something my Dad dealt with and I did not have a clue how to change a light bulb, the amount of broken bulbs where I couldn’t change it was shocking. Sadly for me my first house the light bulbs blew constantly. I was forever changing them and wondering why it was happening. I had a little budget shop round the corner where I would buy my little light bulbs that lasted no longer than a month. Then one day they only had the LED ones a little more pricey but I had a small child and no lights so I brought a few and I never changed the bulb until the day I moved.

This is just a little story but I never knew how much money I would be saving and what good it was on the environment. You see LED not only last for years also require less energy to run. Meaning not only are they more environmentally friendly they also save you pennies too. Now days you can buy LED light bulbs for little amounts too.  If you had 5 normal Halogen bulb light bulbs they may cost you around £10 for the bulbs but will cost an roughly £95 a year on electricity costs, compare this to LED lights and the five bulbs may cost a bit more at around £25 but only cost £5 pound a year to run! Yes £ 5 wowsers! You could save £450 over 5 years buy just using LED lights. No brainier really. The LED lights also last more than 15 times longer than a normal bulb.

LED lights also can last for up to 30 years! That’s nuts just think of the amount of trips to the hardware shops or Tesco’s just for that blown bulb.

This is just one of many ways to save money. In this day and age everyone is looking to save money. With the price of living being higher budgets can be tight, it’s these simple changes to our lives that make a massive difference.  I knew that LED lights were better value for money I just didn't realise how much difference it makes, it’s shocking really. Just throwing money and energy down the drain, who can afford to do that. I thought I was saving money by buying the cheaper bulbs but little did I know that it was in fact the opposite.

I hope this post have helped you to think about the impact of normal Halogen light bulbs compared to LED lights, they have so many positives. Saving money, good for the environment and do not contain any harmful substances. If you fancy looking for some LED lights to help you change your lifestyle (and money) why not head over to the LED Planet where they have many different options of lighting all LED and rather reasonably priced too.

  6. I only bulbs we keep having to buy are the ones in our bathroom and kitchen. They are the same type of bulb but unfortunately they don't make a LED one for that type yet.

  14. We're in the process of swapping ours as they die. It's an expensive hit to start, but so worth it in the long run.

  18. I have a plan to replace all bulbs for LED ones. So far I changed two; it is quite painful to spend £12 for one light bulb but I know it will pay off on the long run.
