Ordinary Moments - Daddy, Daddy cool

My poor husband 5 years ago was enjoying his last few months as a single man, little did he know he would meet little old me and get laden with lots of children. Little did he know he would be changing nappies to his hearts content and forever cleaning the tv of toddler hand prints. He didn't think he would be driving a car with alot of boot space rather than driving a sporty GT type. He has made it, he may have 50% more grey hair than 5 years ago but he is the best dad to our children.

He still tries to maintain his old ways and holds tightly to it, but more and more I see him become dad! A dad with bad jokes, dodgy dance moves (although I think they were there before hand) and lot of other traits that are slowly creeping in. His parenting style is one that is based on love and full off encouragement (also taking the mick alot) has caused my eldest to bloom into the little lad he is today, we were so blessed when he came into our lives.

He also has been coming up with many new ways to make parenting easier, most include trying to stay in bed as long as he can. First one is to put something special on loop via youtube then attach it out of reach above the cot. Another is rocking the baby in bouncer with foot whilst he is still in bed and lastly encouraging babies to hold own bottles so he can have two hands for fifa. He is funny the kids all adore him and so do I.

So there we are Daddy who is still cool, Daddy who still loves dancing, still listens to dance music, still plays football, still cleans the car on the reg, who now has kids music in the car. He is still cool, still a role model for Pants and the others. We love him lots.

Learning to blow bubbles - The ordinary moments

I think as a toddler one of the most frustrating things is to try and blow bubbles. Atempt after atempt and still no joy. Bubble mixture is eaten, smotherd round face and even poured on the floor out of frustration, all to try and blow those bubbles. Somehow mum and dads bubbles do not compare to the ones you can do your self.

We got there! Ami learnt not to put so much in her mouth and reaped the benefits of trying to chase/ eat bubbles. For something so small is another milestone in growing up. Another stage towards becoming a little girl. What can seem so small, so normal is a massive deal for us parents sometimes.

Ordinary moments - Daddy and Ami Love

The love between a Dad and a daughter can be so special. I remember when we found out we were having a girl my husband was so happy. He wanted a girl so much, a little princess he can spoil. Ami loves her daddy alot and cries every morning when he goes to work and when he gets back from work she waits by the door when she can hear him coming up the path. She gives him a huge hug and its been the same since she could crawl to the door. I write this as this morning Ami wakes up and my husband brings her into bed with him and was giving her a cuddle and she fell asleep on him. It was so cute and something Ami never ever does my husband was so chuffed I thought I just had to share it. It was just so lovely. A simple moment one that could be easily forgotten as they grow up and you forget what they were like as a baby.



It makes my heart melt to see them together, they have such a lovely bond it will be interesting to see how this changes with new baby or will it flourish more. Its funny my son is the same would much rather be with my husband playing football or playing a game than me. I am not offended I actually like it, it takes some pressure off me after I have been with the kids all day.

The Ordinary Moments - Family time

One thing I love is spending time with my family.

It doesn't matter what we do as long as were together. 

My husband teases us all and we laugh alot

Sometimes life can be so busy you realise
 we haven't been together for a long time.

So here we are walking along in Broadstairs
 to play in the sand and get an Ice cream

The things we love the most. 

The times we cherish the most were we do nothing special

 but our time together is not rushed but enjoyed.

Ordinary moments - Sick days

Well as it happens my son was sick at school on his birthday therefore I had to go and collect him and then he had to have the next day of. As a rule I keep it as boring as possible to try and deter more sick days. I am one of those mums who sends there child in cough or cold maybe its something with being a nurse, mummy deals with actual sick people you will go to school!! So having to keep a perfectly well child at home is a little annoying, he was upset as he missed his new after school club too.

 Some days the two of my children play nicely Ami just wants to copy Pants and he lets her join in and this was one of these days. We started the day setting up a fish tank Pants got for his birthday, then making a den out of the sofa and playing lego out of reach of a nosy/ destructive 13 month old! Its days like this I am glad to be a mum, I love watching them play especially it makes my heart melt. So this is my ordinary moment being a mum to two crazy children, two children who love each other to bits and Pants doesnt care that he has a sister who is 1 he loves taking care of her and often being told of by her as he tries to help her from danger. Its a nice time soon there will be another little person in the mix and the dynamics may change but I for now enjoy these little moments that make me happy!
