BRIO Metro Railway Set Review

In our house we love BRIO,  we were given a set when Aston was a baby it was a basic train set which was already 20 years old and we still have it today going strong. So when we were asked to review the Metro Railway set I knew we would not be disappointed.

The Metro Railway set comes in 20 pieces which include a metro station which boasts sliding doors, tunnel, platform and passengers. The set also contains 7 wooden train tracks and a two-way junction. The set also comes with a metro train. The train has three carriages that open up and can sit the passengers in. The train also comes with lights and sounds.

The lights and sounds are activated as soon as the train moves and an added bonus is that the train comes included with batteries already installed. The sounds are very much like a train rolling through the underground. One of Son Son's favourite features was the fact that you could sit the figures in the train.

The set was easy to put together and Son Son who is four was able to put together without much help.    You can play with the set on its own or it is compatible with other wooden train tracks. We also added some of the BRIO world sets and built some houses around the edges too. Then before we knew it was had extended the train track and had a whole village.

The set is really good quality and you know it will be something that will last a long time. It also comes with a wooden ticket machine and maps to help aid imaginative play. One thing I loved about the set is how it was a modern twist to an old classic. Both Ami and Son Son enjoyed playing with the BRIO Metro Railway set and have got it out multiple times since.

The set Retails at £49.99 and available at most toy retailers.

BRIO World School Playset and Village Modules Review

We are massive BRIO fans in my house. My eldest son was given a train track when he was just a baby. It was second hand when we got it and it’s still going strong today. The train track is nearly thirty years old and just as good as the day it was made (minus lots of pen marks).

We were asked to review some of the BRIO World range and I just knew it would be something that the kids would enjoy. I hadn't heard of the Brio family range so equally I was just as interested to see what it was all about. I thought Brio was just about trains but it turns out its not and there is a massive range called BRIO world.

We were sent the School play set and the extension assessor pack. I thought beforehand that they may be made out of wood so when I opened the box I was a tad intrigued to see plastic. To be honest I didn't really think of much and didn’t really understand what it was all about. Then I read the instructions and the kids started playing with the toys I knew hang on this is a real game changer for toys.

What you might not see so much from the photos is that all the walls and the flooring can be taken apart and you can build it just how you want. There’s many different opens to how you build your sets. We made a massive school out of the two sets together. Which my Ami loved she loves anything school at the moment.

The school set comes with 22 pieces with a mixture of wood and plastic all in bright colours and is actually really easy to slot together. Turns out you didn’t really need the instructions in the end.  The set included two figures too which aided the school game (also didn’t cause too many arguments as the little ones had a figure each to play with. One of the best things about the Brio set is that is doesn’t come with any batteries no annoying sounds and children are encouraged to use their imagination.

We were also sent the BRIO Village Module. This is an expansion set that can be used as a standalone piece or use to create other buildings. You can also use the set to expand any existing Brio village sets you may have. They are the same colourful colours as the school and they all can slot together.

All in all Ami and Son Son loved these two sets and equally I was not disappointed. I can see them having a lot of fun playing over and over again with the village sets.  No play time will be the same as each time will be a new masterpiece.

The BRIO school play set retails at £29.99 and the Village Module is £19.99. They are both available from all good toy shops and online shops also. They are recommended for children aged 3 and about. We have loved them defiantly a firm favourite in our house.

Brio Birthday Train Review

There is one brand of toys you know are going to be great quality and that is brio. We recently got offered the chance to review a brio train. We have had a set of brio that someone gave me nine years ago when Asti was small and its still standing strong. Believe it or not we have brought cheaper trains and tracks and it has not lasted like the brio.

The Brio Birthday Train comes loaded with two wagons both that separate and come of the trains. One is a cake (not a boat like I first thought) and the other a present. The Train is aimed at children aged 2 and over so perfect for both of my little ones. Who were both all over the train like a rash.

The trains are make of such good quality they won't chip or break or even with some of our older trains start to fade. They are a good side so perfect for toddler hands! The only issue we have had is the smaller magnetic parts getting lost!! I think thats generally our fault and nothing to do with the train.

The Brio Birthday Train is around £14.99, maybe a little more than you would pay for a train but it is so worth it in the long term run.
You can find out more information, and where to buy on the Brio website. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter too.
